This baseball-themed restaurant showcases Baseball Hall of Fame pitcher Eddie Plank who was born 10 years following the Civil War on his family’s farm north of Gettysburg. Plank would eventually become the first major league southpaw to win 300 games. While people come for the atmosphere, they stay for the food! Try Gettysburg Eddie’s Black & Bleu burger with Cajun seasoned beef, topped with melted Bleu Cheese, lettuce, tomato and onion. We recommend trying it with a side of their delicious seasoned waffle fries.
Playing on the history of Gettysburg, The Blue and Gray serves battlefield burgers named after famous Union and Confederate generals. Maybe you want a Union General John Buford burger with melted bleu cheese, caramelized onions and horseradish aioli or a Confederate General James Longstreet burger with bacon, caramelized onions and peanut butter. You could also try the Jennie Wade, named after the only known civilian causality of the battle, which is a traditional cheeseburger on Texas toast. And for those vegetarians who want a little taste of history, you can substitute for a veggie burger option.
The Farnsworth House is the only Civil War period dining experience in Gettysburg. Period fare served by period dressed servers in historic inn with over 100 bullet holes in exterior south wall. While they have some great period fare such as game pie, peanut soup and spoon bread, if you are feeling a burger we recommend the Grant’s Bacon and Bourbon Burger. With apple bourbon sauce, cheddar cheese, and crispy bacon this bold burger is bursting with flavor.
Appalachian Brewing Company‘s two locations in Gettysburg have a unique selection of burgers. Their Bulgogi pineapple burger has Korean BBQ sauce and a grilled pineapple ring, the boo boo burger has pulled pork and coleslaw, and for a little extra added kick the fire jumper burger has pepper jack cheese and jalapenos. There’s also the classic Harrisburger, which pays homage to PA’s state capital where ABC started. Not to mention they offer a great selection of their signature brews, sodas and spirits.
Newly opened Jack’s Hard Cider – Mela Kitchen, has a clean and rustic approach to food makes this a unique stop for a burger. This renovated movie theater turned restaurant/cidery has an extensive menu featuring woodfire pizza and seasonal offerings made with local ingredients. However, don’t sleep on this gourmet burger. With ground wagyu, cheddar cheese, bacon, tomato, shaved onion, cider aioli served on a brioche roll, you will walk away remembering every bite.
Beer and a burger – It’s the perfect pairing. Every Monday from 4-8 p.m., Fourscore Beer Co. hosts Burgers and Brews. The special has burgers for $9.99 and $3 pours of their beers Hop Hat, Gettys Brau and The Fix. There are several other beers on tap, so try a flight or grab some cans to go!

Starting in 2012, Warehouse Gourmet opened as Hanover’s first brewery.
Every Wednesday, starting at 4:00PM is Smash Burger Night at The Warehouse. They always use locally-sourced beef from Myers Meat Market in Hanover. The twin patty Smash Burgers are served on a Housemade Brioche Bun with Western-style Steak Fries, their own Bleu Cheese Cole Slaw and a Garlic Dill Pickle Spear. Opening in 1970, Pizza House is the oldest pizza shop still in operation in Gettysburg. In addition to serving their classic pizza, Pizza House rounds out their menu with wings, appetizers, salads and subs, including a cheeseburger sub! This subs comes with the traditional toppings you’d expect with a burger, but its served on Pizza House’s fresh baked bread, which is made daily.
