So I decided that after two years of living here, it was finally time that I learned to make an apple pie from scratch. Actually, I decided that it was time to make ... Read This Story

Northern Adams County, with its many apple orchards and forested hillsides, is a fantastic area to lose yourself for a day or two, especially in the fall. The winding roads take you through breathtaking valleys, past brimming apple orchards, and, if you plan it right, to Fields of Adventure.
Fields of Adventure is entering their sixth season of entertaining visitors at Smithfield Farms, a few miles from Biglerville, and just north of the Civil War battlefield in Gettysburg. I’m looking forward to the National Apple Harvest Festival – perhaps my favorite event in Adams County.
The festival is always the first two weekends in October. Each year it’s a gamble – will it be warm and sunny or a beautiful cool fall day. Either way it will be fun and family filled. My parents usually join us, at least ... Read This Story
